Default Leveling with a Dervish

I am currently level 14 on Istan, and I am in need of some builds for my Dervish. I noticed that at all of the skill trainers there are only 4-7 skills for any of the different attributes. How can I unlock more skills? Is Balthazaar faction the only way to get more skills at this time?

So I just need a nice build that has easily-acquired skills to get through Istan and lvl 20. Thanks in advanced!

I'm sorry to see that no one has posted anything more helpful yet. Balthazar Faction isn't going to help you because it only unlocks the skill, it doesn't teach it to you. This is useful for PvP toons on the same account, or any Dervish or /D heroes you have, but not for your PvE character.

While you are still in Istan, you will need to rely (to some degree) on the skills of your secondary class. My own Dervish is a /Ranger, but I'd be willing to help you out with a concept build if you still need the help and if you will tell me your secondary.

Just experiment, and, when you unlocked non-elite skills with faction, all the skill teachers (in that game with the proffesion[nightfall=derv.]) there..

I just use Balth Fac to unlock skills for me to buy at the skill trainer.

Conviction, Mystic Regen, Faithful Intervention are a great combo to stay alive.

Do you get it with another character or something?

Here's a highly defensive D/Mo "Istani" build that got my dervish safely through to the mainland. All of the skills are available on the island. Take it for what it's worth.

Signet of Pious Light
Dismiss Conditions/Reversal of Fortune
Aura of Thorns
Pious Assault
Heart of Holy Flame
Rez spell/Mending
Mystic Vigor
Vital Boon

For attributes, try to hit the "sweet spots" on Mysticism: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15. Put the remaining points into Earth Prayers and Scythe Mastery. Any spare points can be put into Protection/Healing Prayers, but don't waste them.

Hit Mystic Vigor and Vital Boon before entering battle. When they begin blinking, hit Pious Assault or Signet of Pious light to get a quick attack or a quick heal in. If you're taking heavy damage, rend and recast Vital boon as fast as it recharges.

Use Pious Assault/Heart of Holy Flame followed by Pious Assault for your attacks. If your attacks are being blocked, use the signet to drop Aura of Thorns or Heart of Holy Flame on them.

For especially thorny areas, try pre-casting Aura of Thorns and Heart of Holy Flame before entering battle, then drop them with Pious Assault for a nice degen spike.

At higher levels of Mysticism, Reversal of Fortune becomes very spammable as a light self heal.
